I sent my CatScans (post surgery, 10 months) to Dr. Houser along with my medical records from my ENT...
the good news is this...
Dr. Houser says I have a NORMAL amount of turbinate tissue... however, he says the nerves in my nose might have been killed or damaged during surgery.
My dryness and crusting has gotten better due to the increased humidity the last month (i am in GA... very humid here).
Another interesting point that I should make regarding my nose dryness is that I took Levaquin before surgery (2 months before) and it caused horrid dry eyes, and I still have them, and from my reading it can also cause sinus and nasal dryness.... grrrrr
Anyway, with all this taken into consideration.. and my surgery was 14 months ago, what now?
I can live with the dryness, but the Air Hunger is killing me... I cannot take a nice breath thru my nose for anything...
Can this heal in time, given that I DO have a normal amount of turb. tissue according to both my ENT and Dr. Houser?
What can you tell me?
I try to take a breath up my nose and it feels like NOTHING Is going in there.... however, I can close my mouth for an hour (I did this today at work just to prove a point to myself). I breathed the whole hour, but it was like I was breathing through a snorkel.
Well... anyway to conclude this post, when I smoke a cigarette (which I KNOW is awful) or exercise heavily... my breathing improves...
VERY odd... I am allergic to smoke however, and it seems to help me breathe. Maybe its just my imagination.
