Initially, ENS sufferers were offered implants by Dr. Houser. These implants were with Alloderm (sheets made from cadaver skin) and is a surgical procedure. Eventually, Dr. Houser began to perform injections of Cymetra (which is just a liquid form of Alloderm) and then later he gave some Acell injections (this is really called Matristem and is of porcine origin but is somewhat similar to Cymetra). Later on some doctors began providing PRP treatments. The PRP has been available for a little more than a couple of years now. PRP takes multiple treatments to really getting the healing effect. Recently, Dr Das has been providing injections of combined PRP and Acell Matristem. So although Acell is being used by Dr Das, it is in a liquified form and thus is still an injection in the office and not a surgery. An important point to understand is that surgical implants are better at adding volume in cases where the turbinate has been significantly reduced. The intent of the PRP+Acell injection is to heal the existing mucosa but is unlikely to add a significant amount of volume.

Your turbinates don't work properly so they cannot act as they usually would and filter the air and regulate temperature. The feeling of breathing comes from cooling down the mucosa.
