Often, sitting in a dry room or whatsoever, thick mucus is sticking deep in the in the back of my nose. It is almost always the same nostril side (=left). When I leave it there, I feel extremely uncomfortable, have shallow breathing and I am going mad inside. Even when my other nostril is open and air still should be able to pass.
The dilemma: in order to get rid of the mucus I have to blow it out really heavy and loud. This is distressing. Often I just can't do this. It is awkward in society and at a university lecture and even in my not so sound proof apartment (my neighbors are angry at me and knock on the walls) . Don't get me wrong the nasal mucosa on both sites is most of time dried out, but when I am outside (cold weather) driving bike or eat lustily, excessive mucus is flowing out of the back of my nose and I have to snort multiple times a minute.
It has gone so far that I don't even bother using handkerchieves anymore, especially if nobody is watching me.
Also I started to avoid risky situations and people in general in order to feel more comfortable.
I don't now if this is caused by ENS or if this due to deviated Septum. Dr. Bodlaj recommended me a septum adjustment and cortisone Spray on my narrow nostril, which I rejected then, due to concerns I had. Will I maybe profit from going to a local ENT ordering cortisone as a beginning ?
