As many of you know I had three resections the most recent in 5/06. I was sick in 08 and did not know it and it climaxed beginning of 09. I recently spent a couple of months in Miami.
My experience was cumulative. In other words the longer I stayed the better I felt.
*I was able to sleep without a humidifier just leaving the windows open. This could be done 9 months out of the year. I was not there in the summer so that is an unknown. However it is even more humid in the summer but too hot so when inside you would need AC. Not as ideal as spring fall and winter.
*I did not need to spray my nose. The humidity and the salt air was enough for me. I did use premarin. I lived in surfside ( Miami Beach )
*I slept longer and better. I would estimate 5.5 hours vs 4 before I would wake up.
*Zero blood.
* I had some normal mucus. Thats right. The longer I stayed the more I had. I was able to blow my nose in the morning and some would come out. Not like before of course but not a bad amount compared to zero or some blood streaks in Ohio.
* More energy and better sense of well being. Probably because of better sleep and good results.
* I took 5 mile walks along the beach daily and their is something to be said for the salt ocean air. I think it is especially healing. It is different the muggy humid cities because of the breaze. Also the natural sunshine is a powerful force.
The constant barage of total humidity really helps. It is also cumulative. I think the areas that were not operated on such as my septum, sidewalls, etc. returned to normal mucosa because not overly taxed. One thing that did not change is the nerve regeneration in the inferior's. Perhaps it would have had I stayed longer. Our bodies have changed. In ohio I am a fish out of water. No longer physically adapted to handle the elements. We should only live in climates that are humid imo.
Of everything I have tried which includes eating perfect, getting in top physical shape and a variety of supplements and topical treatments. The climate for me made the biggest difference. Do not expect results in the first day or two. You will notice it after two weeks for sure.
Anyone who has ENS and is able to move should move to a South Florida . If you are single it should be easy. Just get in the car and go. Stay in a Hostel until you get a job etc. Their is cooler humid climates like Seattle as well. I prefer the warm climate because I could leave windows open and with the ocean breaze it was not too hot for most of the year. I know it can be a source of anxiety moving but it is worth it and believe it can really help.
I have my family and career in Ohio and my top priority is to get established down there as soon as possible. For now I am back in Ohio and have lost the ground I have made.
