You certainly can have symptoms on one side and not the other, or more severe symptoms on one side vs. the other. The procedure performed on each side is unique to that side. So the surgeon could have reduced one side more than the other, or performed a slightly different technique on one side or the other. Based on your particular bodies physiology, maybe one side heals worse than the other. I don't think it is accurate to say that surgeons always do one side worse than the other, but that certainly can happen. I think that for example, with a deviated septum one turbinate can be much larger for the other. After a septoplasty, when the surgeon reduces the larger turbinate, he/she could cause  more damage.
