I have found no substitute for mupirocin. It really helps with the s/x, especially the inflammation. If I didn't have it, I would have gone crazy by now. It really helps me breathe - not very long, but gives me a really big break. It is way above anything else.

I have wondered if it is the antibiotic action or the base ingredients. I always wanted to test just the base and see if it worked, but I don't know anyone who would give me a compounding prescription to do that! I do think that the antibiotic plays a big role in its action.

Anyway, the only other thing I used that really helped was the premarin cream. Again, I always wondered if it was the estrogen or the base. In this case, I really think the base was the important factor in helping my nose. After all, it is supposed to be a remedy of atrophic vaginitis.

Finally, I worry about overusing the a/b, but I use it sparingly, maybe twice a day in the eve and then in the am when I wake up. It really helps to get things moving.

You know what I wish I could say to a Dr? "Dr., You know what is not good? Destroying a persons nasal physiology through turbinate reduction. Or even risking a person's nasal physiology. I hope you still don't do turbinate reductions Dr?"

I am going to try rinopanteina if I ever get around to ordering it, since the shipping is very costly.
