Plus I figured she would see my anxiety history in the records as well as notes form the ENT concerning my psychiatrist and treat me like a loon. But, thanksfully it went ok. Long story short, she agreed that I am suffering from secondary atrophic rhinitis, as she said, based on my symptoms. She did observe me breathing, but not in a formal way. Just while I was sitting there talking about my situation. It did take a while to get through the description. In the end she said something to the effect that she does see people with this condition, tho not so many suffer from breathing issues. she said that some have come as a result of sinus surgery. I really wanted to pursue it, but it was toward the end of the visit. I will be talking about it next time I see her in a month. She did say that many people improve. I asked, is improvement as result of the mucosa healing, or people just adapting or both. She said, it was not a matter of adapting, there was actual improvement. Don't know how, as she did not explain. She did present me with a volumetric exerciser, like the ones people get in the hopsital. I have to ask for a repeat of what she said to do and the purpose related to lack of nasal resistance. I asked about breathing retraining, she said there is plenty we can do. I was mostly concerned about breathing retraining when I was breathing too ,much air when my nose was more vigorous. But, maybe there is something we can do anyway. My lung function is good she said, based on the test from the first pulmonologist. I told her that I came to see her as the 1st guy had never heard of atrophic rhinitis. She seemed very familiar with it, strangely. But, then she is European trained. I told her I was concerned about how I had been keeping quiet for months so as not to trigger hyperventilation, and the lack of expansive breathing generally because of my nose over the past year; and now with the weak breathing. She said she did not feel that given my condition there was a chance for long term damage. Also, she said that as far as oil in my nose, the sesame oil was ok. She would have to look into the rose geranium oil. I need to ask her about the bacitracin, however. All in all, it was pretty good. I did not expect any miracle, but she is willing to accept that I am suffering from atrophic rhinitis, and also work with me. In the future, I would like to find a way to get more evidence concerning the way I breathe. I need to understand it better.
