This is old news. Several years ago there was a huge bunch of hype on the forum saying that Acell was a magical cure. There is an old video about a man whose finger trip grew back after having Acell powder placed on it. Acell is basically the same as Alloderm/Cymetra. Alloderm/Cymetra is made from human cadaver skin and Acell is made from a porcine (pig) source. Both of these are ECM (extra-cellular matrix) and are used pretty much interchangeably. Houser has used both Alloderm/Cymetra and Acell (since some people have asked him to try it). I discussed this with him when I got my Cymetra injection and he told me that he has tried Acell and doesn't really see much difference between Cymetra and Acell. He said he leaned toward Cymetra as it is from a human source so is a little more natural for the body.

I know this question may seem "out there" but is there a product that can be based on or use one's own skin? I was a surprised to learn that it was cadaver skin or porcine. I was just thinking about how using one's own blood is better for transfusion etc. Just wondering since new technologies are developing al the time. Trying to catch up here on the learning curve since I am a newbee.
