Patent just means open.  He is saying you are very open.  In my opinion the body tries to compensate by collapsing the nasal valve or by redeviating the septum to lessen the airway on it's own.  The ostium is just the dranaige hole.  It is larger then normal.  Whether the surgeon enlarged it is not clear.  Normally that would not be done.  I do not think that is causing you symptons but I could be wrong.  Sometimes you get recirculation when it does not drain right.

Thanks. I just thought it was weird that I had complained of too much air months ago, and then in the report sent to my GP, a month later, my airway was noted as "widely patent". Like I said I only found that term used in conjunction with atrophy/hypotrophy of musoca.

I intend to see him again to ask what procedure took place with my turbinectomy. So, I wanted to be prepared to assert myself with regard to any unusual physical findings, since I preume he will dismiss my s/x or say I am imagining them.

Your mention of reciculaiton makes me think about my PND. I have only had PND which began maybe 2 weeks after the sugery. I NEVER had any PND that I was aware of in my life prior to surgery. I had no idea what PND was. Now, I have to hard swallow it, thick, all day, every day, as little comes out my nose. Is this related to the surgery?  I have tried to read around here and saw some mention of it being associated with dry nose.
